At Apple’s WWDC 2024 event on June 10th, a lot of cool stuff was revealed. With the latest iOS 18 update for iPhones, Apple has added a surprising twist to the flashlight function. While many of us are familiar with adjusting the flashlight’s brightness, iOS 18 introduces a new capability: the ability to change the width of the light beam.
This means you can now control how wide or narrow the flashlight’s illumination spreads. It’s a small adjustment that can make a big difference in how you use your iPhone in various lighting situations.
For example, if you’re camping, you can widen the light to see more around you and avoid tripping over things. Or, if you’re reading in bed while someone sleeps, you can make the light smaller so it doesn’t bother them.
How to adjust the flashlight’s radius on iOS 18?
By following the steps given below, you can easily customize the radius of your iPhone’s flashlight beam to suit your preferences and lighting needs.
- Update to iOS 18: Ensure your iPhone runs iOS 18 or later. You can check for updates by visiting Settings > General > Software Update.
- Access the Control Center: Swipe down from the top to open the Control Center.
- Activate the Flashlight: Tap the flashlight icon in the Control Center to turn it on.
- Customize Radius: Slide the radius control left or right to adjust the width of the flashlight beam. Moving it to the left narrows the beam while moving it to the right widens it.
- Release to Set: Once you’re satisfied with the settings, release your finger from the screen. The flashlight will maintain the adjusted intensity and radius until you turn it off or adjust the settings again.
