Adani Group stock jumps 4% after company’s net profit increases by 172% YoY


Adani Group Company, which with presence across various segments in energy, which includes distribution, power transmission, cooling solutions, and smart metering. This company is one of the largest private transmission companies which jumped 4 percent from the day low in the intraday trading after releasing its Q2FY25 results. 

Adani Energy Solutions has a market capitalization of Rs. 1,21,635 Crores. Its shares were trading at Rs. 1027.52, a 4 percent increase from the day-low price of Rs. 988. 

The company’s revenue from operations increased by 68 percent YoY from Rs. 6,183.70 Crores in Q2FY25 to Rs. 3,673.87 Crores in Q2FY24. The revenues increased by 15 percent QoQ. 

Their net profit increased 172 percent YoY from Rs. 284.09 crores in Q2FY24 to 773.39 crores in Q2FY25. Quarterly, the company has reported profit from a loss of Rs. 1,190.66 crore in Q1FY25 due to an exceptional item of Rs. 1,506.02 crore. 

Adani Energy Solutions Limited is a private utility company that provides end-to-end energy solutions. They are into the segments like GTD Business, Transmission, and Trading. The GTD Business segment is involved in the transmission, generation, and distribution of power business especially for Mundra and Mumbai city distribution. The Transmission segment is also engaged in providing transmission lines for power transmission. The Trading segment is involved in the goods trading activity.

They operate and own various high voltage AC lines of transmission and substations of 132 kilovolts (kV) to 765kV voltage level and high voltage DC lines of transmission and substations. This portfolio of more than 19,700 ckt km of transmission lines and power transformation capacity of around 46,000 MVA. Their other business segments include cooling solutions, smart metering, and others. 

Their capex plan is ongoing and their transmission’s under-construction asset base as of September 2024 stood at Rs. 27,400 crore, while the Smart Metering contract’s value is around Rs. 27,200 crore. 

They earn from different segments of revenue. From the transmission, the revenue contribution is 37.24%, Distribution contributes 48.74%, Trading contributes 7.92% and others contribute 6.10% in Q2FY25. The majority of the revenue increase is from Transmission which leaped Year over year and quarter on quarter.
