Bluechip stock in focus after receiving order worth ₹15000 Cr to set up thermal power plants


This Bluechip Shares of large-cap infrastructure companies are gaining attention after they secured a major order for LNTP for thermal power in India from NTPC worth over Rs. 15,000 crore. 

Share Price Movement 

In Tuesday’s trading session, the share price of Larsen & Toubro opened at Rs. 3,630 and reached a day’s high of Rs. 3,649.55 and went up 0.6 percent from its previous close of Rs.3,627.35 apiece. The share has declined since then and is trading at Rs.3,616.15 each, down by 0.31 percent. 

What happened 

L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions has secured a Limited Notice to Proceed from NTPC worth Rs. 15,000 crore and above to set up thermal power plants in the regions of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The orders relate to the main plant packages of the 2×800 MW Stage-II thermal power plant at Gadarwara in Madhya Pradesh. 

The other plant is 3×800 MW Stage-II thermal power at Nabinagar in Bihar. This work includes engineering, design, supply, manufacturing, erection, and commissioning of turbines, boilers, auxiliaries, and electrostatic precipitators, along with electrical, mechanical, civil works, and instrumentation.

Order Book 

As of Q2 FY25, the total order book stands at Rs.5,10,400 crore. Out of this, 60 percent is from India and 34 percent from the Middle East and the remaining 6 percent is from the rest of the world. 67 percent of this includes infrastructure, 23 percent from energy, 7 percent from hi-tech Manufacturing, 3 percent from others.

Management Guidance 

The Management has given out guidance which indicates that the order inflow is expected to grow at 10 percent, margins around 8.2 percent, and revenue by 15 percent.

Financials 

In its Q2 FY25 financial results, L&T reported revenue of Rs.61,555 crore, a 20.63 percent increase from Rs.51,024 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. The Profit After Tax grew by 6.57 percent to Rs.4,099 crore, up from Rs.3,846 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
