HKMA Alerts Public to Fraudulent Activities

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an alert concerning fraudulent websites and phishing emails targeting customers of Dah Sing Bank, Limited. These fraudulent activities have been reported to the HKMA, according to a recent press release by the bank.

The HKMA highlighted that these fraudulent sites and emails mimic legitimate internet banking login screens and communications from Dah Sing Bank. The goal of these scams is to deceive customers into providing sensitive personal information, such as login credentials and One-Time Passwords (OTPs).

The HKMA strongly advises the public to remain vigilant and cautious of emails or messages that encourage clicking on embedded hyperlinks to perform banking transactions. The authority reiterated that legitimate banks do not send such communications to request personal information. Customers are urged not to disclose any sensitive information through these channels.

Steps for Affected Individuals

Individuals who suspect they have been targeted or have inadvertently provided personal information in response to these scams are urged to contact Dah Sing Bank immediately using the contact information provided in the bank’s official press release. Additionally, affected individuals should report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.
