Leading the chorus of praises was none other than Virat Kohli, the legendary Indian batter and former skipper of the RCB men’s side. Kohli congratulated the team through a video call and also shared his sentiments on Instagram, hailing the ‘Superwomen’ of RCB for their exceptional achievement.
In the post-match press conference, Mandhana revealed that she couldn’t hear a single thing Kohli said to her (on video call) and she would meet and have a conversation with him in Bangalore.
“I didn’t hear anything he was saying because it was too loud, he was like just thumbs up and I just did thumbs up, I will be meeting him. He looked happy. There was a bright smile. I remember him coming last year and (do) a little pep talk, which really helped me personally as well as the whole team. He has been a part of this franchise and I think he has been there for the past 15 years, so I could see that happiness on his face,” Mandhana said in the post-match press conference.
Faf du Plessis, the current skipper of the RCB men’s team, also expressed his happiness over the women team’s win by posting an Instagram story, showcasing the camaraderie and unity within the RCB franchise.
Not to be left behind, explosive all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who has been playing for RCB since 2022, took to microblogging website ‘X’ to express his joy, describing the victory as a beauty for RCB.
Adding to the chorus of congratulations was the legendary West Indies batter Chris Gayle, who represented RCB from 2011 to 2017.
Gayle tweeted his congratulations to the RCB women’s team, emphasizing their outstanding season and echoing the popular RCB chant, “Ee Sala Cup Namdu.”
Former RCB player Yuzvendra Chahal, who played for the team from 2014 to 2021, also joined in to share his happiness, further highlighting the strong bond and support among past and present RCB players.
The victory itself was a result of an exceptional all-round performance by RCB, with Ellyse Perry’s solid knock (35*) and impressive bowling spells from Shreyanka Patil (4/12) and Sophie Molineux (3/20) playing pivotal roles in securing the win.
Despite a spirited effort from DC, RCB’s dominant display ensured their first-ever T20 title across both WPL and IPL, marking a historic moment for the franchise.
